Suspension of April 2020 Lockout Date and Waiving of Late Assessment Fee

SUSPENSION OF APRIL 2020 DISCONNECTION & LATE ASSESSMENT

April 16, 2020 ~ In an effort to assist during this public health emergency, and per the State of Louisiana Proclamation JBE 2020-27 and the Public Service Commission Order issued recently, West Allen Parish Water District’s Board of Directors have considered these orders and requests and have voluntarily agreed to concur with these guidelines and to suspend the April 23, 2020 date of the disconnection of water meters for nonpayment of the bill, and waiving the $40 late assessment fee.

This decision has been made by the board of directors in an effort to lessen the impact of the COVID-19 Coronavirus to consumers of our water system that may have a loss of wages or temporary unemployment.

To our customers who this applies to,  and who have not paid their current water bill in the last two months, please be aware that the water bill will still be due and will be carried forward on your next month’s bill as a balance forward and will be due by May 15, 2020.  Again…ALL balances will be due in full by May 15, 2020.  Therefore we encourage you to make payments on your bill so that it will not be such a hardship on you when it does become due.

As a reminder, you can still pay your water bill via U.S. Mail, in one of our two drop boxes, over the phone with a debit/credit card and online at our website: westallenwater.myruralwater.com   WAPWD encourages you to use these means of payment in an effort to keep the COVID-19 Coronavirus spread to a minimum.

WAPWD’s Board of Directors will continue to monitor the situation and will take appropriate actions as they become necessary. We will continue to do everything possible to provide safe drinking water through these difficult times.  Should you have any questions, please contact our office at 337-749-2589 and we will be happy to assist.
